Stanley followed the practices of other local furniture manufacturers by shipping the finest grades of lumber via railcar from the northeastern United States into a small town in southwest Virginia. He employed the finest of furniture craftsmen and shared with them his vision: to provide American families with high-quality, yet affordable, furniture. Accomplishing many of his goals in life, he went on to serve as Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia in the 1950's. Mr. Stanley possessed deep sense of pride and spirit of excellence that is still built into every piece of Young America today.
